Tony Granados, Tuba
Tuba Artist / Clinician / Conductor
My Main musical training was at the University of Kentucky, and yes, I am an avid UK Basketball fan
Triangle Brass Band
I serve as the Music Director for the Triangle Brass Band (website linked below), a volunteer group patterned in the British brass band tradition. We perform close to eight concerts a year and feature world renowned guest artists such as Philip Smith, Allen Vizzutti, Demondrae Thurman, Steve Sykes, Steven Mead and Douglas Yeo. Here is a picture from our December 2010 collaboration with the North Carolina Master Chorale.
Triangle Youth Brass Band
From 2001 - 2013, I was the Director of the Triangle Youth Brass Band. We competed in the North American Brass Band Association Youth Division, winning 6 times, and also performed with renowned soloists such as Jens Lindemann, Scott Hartman, Marty Erickson, Vince DiMartino, Terry Everson, Douglas Yeo and composer Philip Sparke.
During the late sumer and fall, I teach several high school marching bands around the state of North Carolina. I focus mainly on basic fundamental brass playing skills, and refining the musical product. I use a brass training program I call Brass Concepts, which teaches basic understanding of fundamental brass playing as an individual, and as an ensemble.
